Cine ADDS DONNA [CAD] is a pop-up movie theatre located in Donna, Texas. Cine ADDS DONNA has been a lasting dream for artist Jesús González Flores ~ who was born, and somewhat raised in Donna, Texas. CAD is located in south Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley. A space between two countries, two bodies, and culture(s) – a place of displacement that vacuums language and identity. To acknowledge the importance of Mexican golden age films, CAD presents curated film screenings of independent and foreign films that are not in mainstream theatres. CAD is a gesture for youth, elders, everyone in-between – communities that often don’t have these film options.
Cine ADDS DONNA is a window mining to develop inquiry around site and context.
Because of current Covid-19 precautions, Cine ADDS DONNA will be starting under an invite-only policy. CAD is also using an outdoor drive-in model to reduce risk.
